Intro to Hockey Session 2 Schedule update on Sun, November 8th 2009 10:25 AM
Hockey introductory sessions will include Hockey Skating Skills 1-4, Learn to Play Hockey, & House League. We have revamped our hockey introductory programming so that it will run for three 7-week sessions throughout the season and will include the following:
1) Hockey Skating Skills Levels 1-4: Participants are formally trained how to skate in a progressive and sequential manner by skilled skating instructors. We recommend all skaters complete Level 1 before going into “Learn to Play Hockey” and “House League.” Levels 3 and 4 are for more advanced skaters and include those in Mites and Squirts levels, as well as those that have completed Levels 1 & 2. This will be offered in Sessions 1, 2, and 3.
2) Learn to Play Hockey: Introduces skaters to hockey play and skills, including the use of sticks and pucks. This will be offered in Sessions 2 and 3 (see next page). (It is recommended to have completed Hockey Skating Skills Level 1 before enrolling in this).
3) House League: Provides in-house organized games with continued hockey skills instruction. This will be offered in Sessions 2 and 3 (see next page). (It is recommended to have completed at least Hockey Skating Skills Level 1 before enrolling in this).
It is preferred that skaters enrolling in Learn to Play Hockey and House League will have completed Hockey Skating Skills Level 1. House League is more advanced than Learn to Play Hockey and includes small-sided game play with no travelling. In Sessions 2 and 3, both House League and Learn to Play Hockey will include one class of Hockey Skating Skills per week. So - if you sign your child up for Learn to Play Hockey, the program will include Learn to Play Hockey on Tuesday nights and Hockey Skating Skills on Thursdays. For House League, your child will get Hockey Skating Skills on Thursdays and House League on Saturdays. Participants may also enroll in Hockey Skating Skills alone. Participants may enroll in more than one session and/or combinations of sessions for a reduced fee. Equipment will be provided for all introductory programs with check out and return required. Sessions and fees are described on the following pages.
